Korine's Wikipedia Page

Resources to Help Build Korine's Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmony_Korine

While not a primary source, Wikipedia is frequently used around the world and is often the top result in a Google search. Many people go there first to read about a subject. While I believe Korine's films should be first-and-foremost experienced, I think we would all agree to have valuable up-to-date information regarding Korine available online. This site, for one, is a wonderful resource for just that purpose. What Wikipedia offers is an open-source, ever-evolving system to write about Korine.

Yeesh, having a look at "Teaching Gummo" gets me worried for this guys' students.

Combined with the film’s manifest strategy of locating “whiteness” and heteronormativity within the politics of class (and no less crucially, region), this sliding strata of “realism” optimizes opportunities for drawing out larger discursive struggles over race, class, and sexuality - particularly useful in the many university environments in which privileges of class, race, and sexuality remained generally unexamined.

*shudder*

Haha! Yeah. While a few have substance, a good deal of these essays are filled with fluff and over-analysis. Check out the high-language used to start "Dolce Stil Novo"... it's absurd. I'm not even sure what the guy's thesis is. Either way, there are those destined to make films and others to write about it. I'm just glad someone's spreading the word about Korine.

give him the argument that Simon Cowell mentioned it.

i really hope it's Simon Cowell's all time favourite film.

this one sounds interesting, though i don't like the word 'neo-underground':

I don't agree with the whole punk identification of Korine's films with the others that Halligan draws to, but it's an interesting article regardless.

It's called The Devil, The Sinner, and His Journey and it's not been widely released.
