Yeah, it was pretty long.

Into the Abyss was great and moving and all, but I hope he completes the languages film he's talked about. I'd say that's the most urgent anthropological thing for him to do. It would be his magnum opus, his Histoire(s) du cinema.

David Lynch did a similar thing with Duran Duran last year that was also broadcast live on YouTube. Not a huge fan of The Killers, but this sounds cool.

Unfortunately I think much hasn't changed. Truth is, these feelings can happen to anybody. One lifetime explains the next...

99 Questions to Werner Herzog

1 How was yesterday at the film premiere of Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers"?

The film I already knew from the cutting room. I had the feeling: This is an extraordinary film with incredibly dark and subversive force.

Shout Factory is releasing 16 Herzog films remastered on blu ray.

STOKED.

Their horror releases via "Scream Factory" have been nothing less than spectacular.

Shout! Factory and Werner Herzog Film announce multi-film pact for distribution

Shout! Factory, the multi-platform media company dedicated to preserving and releasing previously released films, television shows and more, announced an exclusive multi-picture alliance with Werner Herzog Film GMBH to distribute a coveted library of classic films in North America today, August 20.

Founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos were joined by the legendary filmmaker himself, Werner Herzog, in announcing the multi-year alliance. The company has acquired extensive rights to 16 of Herzog’s films and documentaries, including digital distribution, home video and broadcast for cross-platform releases.

The feature films include “Fitzcarraldo”, “Aguirre: The Wrath of God”, “Nosferatu the Vampyre”, “The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser”, “Woyzeck”, “Heart of Glass”, “Cobra Verde”, “Stroszek”, “Fata Morgana”, “Little Dieter Needs to Fly”, “Lessons of Darkness”, “Ballad of the Little Soldier”, “Land of Silence and Darkness”, as well as several other acclaimed titles.

“Werner Herzog is a filmmaking icon and a celebrated master storyteller. He holds an incredibly rich legacy in cinematic history worldwide. Many of his memorable classics have been long-out-of print in the North American home entertainment marketplace. We are honored with this opportunity to bring these iconic films to movie collectors and legions of fans on digital entertainment platforms and at retail,” stated Shout! Factory’s founders in a joint statement.

“I am very proud to start this new collaboration with Shout! Factory and, given the outstanding reputation of Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos, I am confident that our joint efforts to bring my films to the North American public again in brand new HD quality will be hugely satisfying and rewarding,” said Werner Herzog.

Shout! Factory is planning an aggressive rollout of the classics through home entertainment releases and a variety of digital distribution platforms. As excitement builds for their release, the company and Werner Herzog Film will announce more news later this year.
