Sounds good too me, more worthwhile than Wassup Rockers. Good luck finding a virgin over 18 years old though.

Matthew Barney is working on a project to be included on a DVD of pornographic/sexually explicit films by contemporary artists. The DVD is being compiled by Neville Wakefield and Mel Agace and will be released on the De-restricted label. Cowboys are rumored to play an important part in Barney's film. Other artists providing films for the DVD include Larry Clarke, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Marina Abromovic.

They should get Gaspar Noe to do one.

Hahaha, i just found out that Gaspar Noe is part of this. It's going to play at Sundance next year.

It'll be out on DVD soon. The news on cremasterfanatic.com in late last month said, "Matthew Barney's video De Lama Lamina is included on a new DVD called Destricted. Besides Barney's video, the DVD features erotic shorts by contemporary artists Marina Abromovic, Marco Brambilla, Larry Clark, Gaspar Noe, Richard Prince, and Sam Taylor-Wood. In addition to the DVD release, Destricted is an official selection for the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and will be screened in selected art-house cinemas." On destricted.com it says the 14-minute "Hoist," not De Lama Lamina, is Barney's contribution. I can't find any information about the DVD release date but it's listed on netflix now if anyone cares to try that.

From the 12th of May, there will be a week of Matthew Barney at the ACMI in Melbourne, begining with the Australian premiere of Drawing Restraint 9. Matthew Barney: No Restraint (another Australian premiere), De Lama Lamina and The Cremaster Cycle are the others playing.

The screening times are on the ACMI site here.

The trailer for DR9 came out recently as well, I just saw this now. It's here on the apple website. The official website is up now too: www.drawingrestraint.net/.

Screenings might follow elsewhere. I think after The Cremaster Cycle premeired in Melbourne a year or two ago, it played in Sydney, where I think you are. It was a few months after, something like that. The Sydney Film Festival is around the same time, I think they will have the No Restraint documentary at least but maybe not. I think i will go see these in Melbourne, i am not actually in melbourne either, i live three hours away, but it will still be a little tough. The best day will be Sunday, i've worked it out and it will go like this:

De Lama Lamina: 11:30AM
Cremaster 3: 1PM
Drawing Restraint 9: 4:30PM
No Restraint: 7:30PM

I ended up seeing these, it was a lot of fun. The "No Restraint" documentary was good; it was a biography, not completely about the making of DR9. There were short clips from all the DR films, some of Barney's modelling pictures, that's all I can think of noting. Excerpts from DR10 played over the end credits too.

The Cremaster Cycle and DR9 are currently playing in Brisbane now, if anyone's near there. Information is here.

JFR (Excepter) was an extra in the Horus-Vs-Seth sequence in Matthew Barney's "River of Fundament" opening FEB 12 at BAM. Look for him in trademark hat!
