What do you guys think of Werner's films?

I think Aguirre is probably my favorite- very well
done and highly entertaining. Fitzcarraldo
had many moments of brilliance, but can also get
pretty tedious. Ditto Nosferatu. Four Shorts was
captivating, particularly the last two segments. (I thought
that the first two, while interesting, tended to drag.)

Even Dwarfs Started Small and Stroszek are 2 of the best films ever made. his other suff is good but those 2 tower above the rest.

Even Dwarfs, Aguirre, and Stroszek. But Fata Morgana is pretty good too.

to Dave Quam who wants to 'see dwarfs really bad'. You should see Even Dwarves Started Small. That has dwarves really bad.

Personally I love, love, love Stroszek, Woyzek and Fata Morgana. Oh, and Hearts of Glass.

Why were the midgets revolting? Who the hell was the guy
tied to the chair that just laughed through the whole movie?
Why were they all so obsessed with the truck that drove
endlessly in a circle? Why did they fuck with the blind midgets?
Why did the blind midgets starting beating the dead hog they found?

I love Klaus Kinski in AGUIRRE, when he picks up the monkey and says "I am the wrath of God!"
In the commentary, Herzog says "I just luffed how he zrew ze monkey. Only Klaus could do zat."

I like Woyzeck and Kaspar Hauser mostly.

When I showed my sister this site and she saw the forum she thought it said "FAG" in the menu.

Stroszek

Stroszek had such a huge effect on me when I saw it in the early 80's...especially the closing scene.
Such power...such beauty.
I recently bought it on DVD while I was in New York and it blew me away again.
Upon this second viewing I realized how much this film has informed my aesthetic.
I would also highly recommend 'Lessons of darkness' and 'Heart of glass'.
