“REBEL” BILLBOARD SPOTTED IN CALIFORNIA

Showbiz411 have posted up a photo of a Billboard advertising a project involving Harmony Korine and James Franco – first reported on this site in Late March.

From Showbiz411:

James Franco‘s short film, called “Rebel,” may make to the Venice Biennale after all. Or to the Venice Film Festival. Or to Venice, California. Late actor Brad Renfro has something to do with it, as you can see from the billboard on Sunset Boulevard. Franco had Renfro’s name cut into his arm. This is the evidence. At least he just had “Brad” carved. (It could also be Pitt.) The film is an art installation concerning James Dean, whom Franco played a decade ago. Gucci’s backing it.

HARMONY KORINE & JAMES FRANCO?

The New York Post recently reported that Oscar nominated actor James Franco is in talks with Harmony Korine about a new project which could possibly involve “bloody LA gang street fights”.

Our source said, “They are looking to film two actual street gangs doing a fight scene. The twist is they want the two gangs to fight, using real knives. The production team is panicked that they’ll end up with blood, injuries and potentially dead bodies on set.”

A Korine rep told us, “I can confirm that there is indeed a piece of video art in the works involving gang fights by James and Harmony,” but declined to comment further.

Franco recently opened an art exhibition at the Gagosian in LA entitled “Unfinished” which is a collaboration with Gus Van Sant (a close friend of both Korine & Franco) The show runs until April 9th – and according to NY Daily News, Korine was in attendance at the opening. More information on the gallery and where/how to attend can be found here.
